What Kind of contract Do I need?
When an electrical contractor's customer is a private individual, a consumer, there are many provisions relating to trading and contracting that do not apply to trade between traders.
The choice of the type of contract form is influenced by both the position of the customer and the quality and scope of the electrical work to be ordered.
It is recommended to use ready-made forms, as all the most important things have been taken into account in the ready-made forms.
In the construction industry, various contract forms and general contract terms have been developed to facilitate and speed up the conclusion of contracts.
The Finnish Association of Electricity and Telecommunications Contractors has negotiated a contract form and general terms and conditions, REYS-8 1995, for contracts referred to in Chapter 8 of the Consumer Protection Act with a VAT-inclusive price of less than approximately EUR 10,000. The RYS-9 1998 terms and conditions based on Chapter 9 of the Consumer Protection Act and the tender and contract forms are applicable to contracts over 10,000 euros.
Depending on the scope of the work, either the Consumer Protection Act, the general terms and conditions for construction works REYS-8 or the general terms and conditions for consumer works RYS-9 apply to consumer work. Agreements between companies and entities, on the other hand, are governed by the general terms and conditions of the construction sector YSE 98.
